The Greyhounds outplayed and outscored the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday but the win was overshadowed by the departure of defenceman Trevor Daley.

In outshooting the Spitfires 45-31, the Hounds cemented their hold on the last playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference with a 5-3 win. Jeff Carter and Jeff Doyle scored twice apiece for the Hounds and Scott Dobben added an insurance marker.

Daley left the team on Saturday following remarks made about him to another player by Hounds' coach/general manager John Vanbiesbrouck.

OHL commissioner David Branch is investigating Vanbiesbrouck's admitted use of a racial slur towards Daley, who has a black father and a white mother.

Vanbiesbrouck is expected to step down as Hounds' coach.
