The Soo Greyhounds are back on a roll.

After getting the monkey off their backs by scoring their first win in the Steelback Centre on Friday night with a 4-2 decision over the Belleville Bulls, the Greyhounds now seem focused on the task at hand.

On Sunday night at the Steelback Centre, Dustin Jeffrey lit up the Kingston Frontenacs for three goals to help pace the Greyhounds to a 5-2 Ontario Hockey League victory.

The Greyhounds opened up a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of five-on-three power plays against a Kingston team struggling with their discipline in the opening period.

Josh Godfrey's blast from the top of the face off circle opened the scoring at 6:21 before Dustin Jeffrey tapped in his 11th of the year past Frontenacs goaltender Daryl Bordon at 11:43 as a rebound found its way on to his stick at the side of the net.

In the second period, Jeffrey banged home his own rebound to give the home side a 3-0 advantage at 6:29. Kingston answered back with a goal less than a minute later as Chris Stewart beat Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski.

In the third period, Josh Moes pounced on Cody Thornton's rebound at 5:27 for his first of the year and a 4-1 Greyhounds lead. At 7:41, Bobby Nyholm cut the deficit to 4-2 with a goal for Kingston.

At 10:11 of the period, Dustin Jeffrey recorded his hat trick as he wired his 13th goal of the season past Bordon.

The Greyhounds outshot the Frontenacs 37-28 in front of 4,424 fans. Jeffrey captured first star honours while Thornton was named second star and Godfrey third.

With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 6-5-0-2 for 14 points.

The Greyhounds are back on the road next weekend with three games against east division opponents. On Thursday, the Hounds face Peterborough at 7 p.m. before travelling to Kingston on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Ottawa on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The locals return to open a three-game homestand on Wednesday, November 1 against the Saginaw Spirit at 7 p.m. During that homestand, the Greyhounds will unveil a set of alternate jerseys, which will be used on select occasions throughout the season.
