Hounds acquire Alphonso from Ottawa

************************* The Soo Greyhounds and Ottawa 67’s completed a deal earlier this afternoon that will see four draft picks and one player involved.

In their first deal of the summer, the Greyhounds acquired the rights to right-winger Arron Alphonso along with Ottawa’s 2nd-round pick (77th overall) in tomorrow’s CHL import draft and Ottawa’s 1st-round pick in the 2008 CHL Import Draft.

In exchange the Hounds will send Ottawa their 1st round pick in tomorrow’s CHL Import Draft (38th overall) and their 3rd-round pick in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection.

Alphonso, enters his fourth season in the OHL after playing all three previous years with the 67s.

This past 2006/2007 season proved to be a career best for the Orangeville native as he grabbed 17 goals and 23 assists (40 points) in 54 regular season games played before tallying four points in five post-season games.

The 5’11”, 183-pound right winger finished off the 2006/2007 season on a strong foot by grabbing points in five of his last seven games.
