The opening day of the high school football season is fast approaching and training camps are set to get underway on Monday.

At both the junior and senior levels, it will be the first action for the schools since the fall of 2019 after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 season last fall.

The Korah Colts, who enter the 2021 season as the defending champion at the senior level, will open training camp for both its junior and senior teams on Monday.

The junior team will be on the field all week from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Korah while the senior team will also take the field all week from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

On Monday, Korah’s senior team also has a meeting scheduled for 5 p.m.

At Superior Heights, the senior team takes the field on Monday beginning at 4 p.m.

The senior team will practice all week from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Steelhawks junior team, defending champs from the 2019 season, will also be on the field for training camp from Monday to Friday. Workouts are scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

St. Mary’s also has football tryouts scheduled throughout the week, beginning on Monday.

The junior team tryouts are scheduled from Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Knights senior team tryouts are scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. all week.

At White Pines, training camp is also set to begin on Monday.

Players are asked to arrive early for registration ahead of Monday’s opening working, which is scheduled to run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

All four schools are asking athletes to be prepared for workouts with cleats, workout clothes, a mask, and a water bottle with their name on it.

Training camp for girl’s basketball is also set to begin next week.

At Korah, senior girl’s tryouts will begin on Monday at 9 p.m.

The team will be on the court for a pair of days next week, which includes tryouts on Sept. 1, also at 9 a.m.

Korah’s junior girl’s team will be on the court the same days, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on both days.

Tryouts for the girl’s basketball teams at St. Mary’s are set to run Monday through Friday with the juniors on the court from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and the seniors on the court from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
