High school hockey update

The St. Basil Saints scored a win in a shootout over Central Algoma while St. Mary's and White Pines skated to a draw in high school hockey action on Friday.

The St. Basil Saints scored a win in a shootout over Central Algoma while St. Mary's and White Pines skated to a draw in high school hockey action on Friday.

Tommy Loza, Billy McCabe and Anthony Spina each scored two goals each in the Saints 10-6 win over the CASS Huskies. Nick DiCandia, Andrew Naphan, Mike Dias and Steve Luxton also scored for the winners.

Bill Evoy, and Mike Brown scored twice each for the Huskies while Nigel Good and Kyle Brick added one each.

Adam Stevenson scored twice and Josh Reed added two others while shorthanded for the White Pines Wolverines in a 4-4 tie with the St. Mary's Knights. Phil Ruicci, Matt Kudyba and Andrew Posteraro also scored for the Knights.

Action continues on Wednesday with three games. The Sir James Dunn Eagles will travel to Desbarats to play CASS at 5 p.m. At the John Rhodes Community Centre, the Korah Colts meet St. Mary's at 7 p.m. followed by the Bawating Braves and St. Basil at 8:45 p.m.
