High school hockey report

The High School Hockey League will drop the puck for the inaugural Joey Mancuso East/West Classic on Saturday at Memorial Gardens.

All local teams will play in five mini-games beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Joey Mancuso parents, Lori and Jimmy, will drop the ceremonial opening face-off and handout the Mancuso Trophy, which was donated by Sports Gold, to the winning side.

The night begins with Sir James Dunn facing Korah for two periods before St. Basil and Central Algoma Secondary School hook up for two more periods beginning at 6:30 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., Bawating will face CASS for one period and then White Pines for another period. St. Mary's and White Pines will conclude the night with two periods beginning at 8:30 p.m.

*** FIRST WEEK ACTION:

The league has played seven games thus far as the regular season opened last Wednesday at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
