On Oct. 25, 2019, the Korah Colts beat the St. Mary’s Knights in the senior high school football final.

Little did anyone know at the time that it would be the final time local schools would meet for nearly two years.

On Saturday, high school football returned to the field at Superior Heights with a trio of games – two at the junior level and St. Mary’s meeting Superior Heights in senior action.

In Saturday’s senior game, rushing touchdowns from Kaiden Fisher (23 yards), Lucas Pacione (one yard), and Gabe Barkley (one yard) along with a touchdown catch by Grant Rains (30 yards) helped Superior Heights to a 28- 11 win over St. Mary’s.

The victory was aided by the run game for the Steelhawks.

Led by Breton, who finished the day with 13 carries for 129 yards, Superior Heights finished the day with 279 yards on the ground.

Barkley added 68 yards rushing on seven carries while Fisher had 59 yards on six carries.

At quarterback, Barkley completed five of eight passed for 63 yards and hit Rains for the Steelhawks lone major through the air.

Defensively for Superior Heights, Lucas Pacione had four tackles while Mitchell Kilby had 3.5 tackles and an interception.

Offensively for St. Mary’s, Jaiden Trudeau had the lone touchdown for the Knights, completing a 51-yard passing play from quarterback Kyle Scarfone.

Trudeau caught five passes for 132 yards for the Knights while Scarfone went 10-for-20 and threw for 184 yards in the contest.

Christian Omollo ran the ball for 61 yards on seven carries for St. Mary’s.

A field goal by Daniel Bumbaco kicked a field goal for the Knights to cap off the scoring.

Defensively for the Knights, Nick Carter had 6.5 tackles while Adam Morgenstern had 5.5 and Brandon Vecchio had five.

In Saturday’s junior games, St. Mary’s opened the day with a 26-7 win over Superior Heights while Korah capped off the day with a 26-0 win over White Pines.
