A pair of Soo Greyhounds were honoured on Wednesday as the Ontario Hockey League announced its all star teams for the 2018-19 season.

Veteran forward Morgan Frost and overage blueliner Mac Hollowell were named first team all-stars.

Frost, a Philadelphia Flyers prospect, scored 37 goals and assisted on 72 others for 109 points in 58 regular season games as he completed his fourth season with the club.

At the end of the regular season, Frost spoke of the memories he had in his four seasons with the club.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” Frost said. “Getting accustomed to the league in my first three years, this fourth year, you’re so settled in that it’s more about enjoying my time, having fun and helping the team win. This has been the most fun I’ve had in my four years.”

Frost also said his four seasons in Sault Ste. Marie have brought him “way too may memories to account for.”

“I’ve made some great friendships and there are some really great people in the organization,” Frost said. “Winning the western conference and going to the OHL final last year was huge for me. Some of the things I’ll never forget are some of the older guys when I was a 16- and 17-year-old player. Just the way they treated me. I made so many friends from that.”

A Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, Hollowell completed his fourth full season in Sault Ste. Marie as the OHL’s leading scorer among defencemen with 77 points in 64 games. His 24 goals were also tops among league defencemen.

Also named first team all-stars were Jason Robertson of the Niagara IceDogs (left wing), Justin Brazeau of the North Bay Battalion (right wing), Evan Bouchard of the London Knights (defence), Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen of the Sudbury Wolves (goaltender) and Andre Tourigny of the Ottawa 67’s (coach).

The second team included:

  • Centre: Kevin Hancock (London Knights)
  • Left Wing: Arthur Kaliyev (Hamilton Bulldogs)
  • Right Wing: Tye Felhaber (Ottawa 67’s)
  • Defence: Bode Wilde (Saginaw Spirit)
  • Defence: Adam Boqvist (London Knights)
  • Goaltender: Kyle Keyser (Oshawa Generals)
  • Coach – Cory Stillman (Sudbury Wolves)

Meanwhile, the third time included:

  • Centre: Nick Suzuki (Guelph Storm)
  • Left Wing: Isaac Ratcliffe (Guelph Storm)
  • Right Wing: Nate Schnarr (Guelph Storm)
  • Defence: Dmitri Samorukov (Guelph Storm)
  • Defence: Thomas Harley (Mississauga Steelheads)
  • Goaltender: Ivan Prosvetov (Saginaw Spirit)

The teams were voted on by OHL general managers at the end of the regular season.

The league completed the voting process in two stages, first with ballots by conference, then a second ballot that brought together the top selections from each conference.
