Greyhounds to open Steelback Centre on October 11

Following the release of the OHL's Master schedule late yesterday, the Greyhounds are now able to confirm and release their schedule of events for the upcoming 2006/2007 regular season.

Taking into account the current construction of their new home, the Steelback Centre, the locals will start off the new campaign with 3 consecutive road trips, totaling 8 games.

Everything is set to start on Friday, September 22nd when the red and white skate into the Auditorium in Kitchener to take on the Rangers. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The Hounds will make their debut on home-ice for their 2006 Season Opener on Wednesday, October 11th. That night will see the Hounds take on their Highway 17 rivals, the Sudbury Wolves in a 7 p.m. showdown. This is the first of six games between these two Northern Ontario clubs.

The Hounds will also take part in a pair of games to be held on unique dates. The first game is a New Year's Eve ,day game (Sunday, December 31st). That day the Hounds will host the Kitchener Rangers in a 2 p.m. start. Then on Valentine's Day (Wednesday February 14th) the locals will entertain the Sudbury Wolves in a 7 p.m. start.

Various events will be planned for these two special gamedays and announced at a later time.

The final home game of the regular season is set for Saturday, March 17th against the Sarnia Sting at 7:30 p.m.

Of the 34 home dates on the Hounds schedule there are 6 on Wednesdays, 13 on Fridays, 9 on Saturdays and 6 on Sundays.

There will be 0 home games in September, 5 in October, 8 in November, 5 in December, 6 in January, 6 in February and 4 in March.

Home game times are as follows: Wednesday 7:00 p.m. Friday 7:30 p.m. Saturday 7:30 p.m. Sunday 7:00 p.m.
