The Soo Greyhounds ended a disappointing road trip with a 6-3 loss to the Oshawa Generals on Sunday night.

On a three-game swing against three other teams that are struggling thus far in the Ontario Hockey League season, the Greyhounds emerged with only a single victory, which came on Friday against Mississauga in overtime. The Greyhounds lost to the Belleville Bulls 4-1 on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Hounds and Generals, who entered the game with the OHL's worst record, squared off in a game that marked the third contest in as many nights for both teams.

Underage phenom John Tavares opened the scoring for the Generals and Brent Clarke added another for a 2-0 lead.

The Greyhounds then traded goals with the Generals the rest of the way and could not manage to cut the lead to less than a goal. Oshawa led 3-1 after one period and 4-3 after two.

Jason Pitton and Cody Thornton, who also added an assist, each scored their ninth goal of the season on the power play for the Greyhounds while Andrew Desjardins notched his fourth of the year short handed.

Adam Berti led the Generals with two goals and an assist while Dale Mitchell and Peter Tsimikalis each scored once and set up another.

Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski kicked aside 35 of 40 shots in the loss while Kevin Couture, who faced 34 Greyhound shots, took the win for Oshawa.

The Greyhounds now sit at 7-14-2 on the season and remain last in Western Conference while Oshawa improved to 5-17-1.

The Hounds begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday against the Sudbury Wolves at Memorial Gardens beginning at 7 p.m. The Plymouth Whalers then visit on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before the Guelph Storm comes to town on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
