The Canadian Hockey League held its annual Top Prospects Game on Monday night in Quebec City with a pair of Soo Greyhounds in the mix.

Centre Morgan Frost and defenceman Conor Timmins were members of Team Orr in its 7-5 loss to Team Cherry Monday at Centre Videotron.

Frost, who played on a line with Alex Formenton (London Knights) and Stelio Mattheos (Brandon Wheat Kings), picked up an assist in the game.

The sophomore forward had a big day on Sunday, finishing first in a pair of skills testing events – the 30m forward skate and the 30m forward skate with the puck.

In Monday’s game, MacKenzie Entwistle (Hamilton Bulldogs), Owen Tippett (Mississauga Steelheads) and Antoine Morand (Acadie-Bathurst Titan) had a goal and an assist each for Team Cherry. Isaac Ratcliffe (Guelph Storm), Maxime Comtois (Victoriaville Tigres), Gabriel Vilardi (Windsor Spitfires) and Jake Leschyshyn (Regina Pats) also scored for Team Cherry. Henri Jokiharju (Portland Winterhawks) assisted on three goals. Nolan Patrick (Brandon Wheat Kings) assisted on a pair of Team Cherry goals. Ian Scott (Prince Albert Raiders) got the start in goal, stopping 13 of 17 shots while Stuart Skinner (Lethbridge Hurricanes) played the second half of the game, stopping 17 of 18 shots.

Nico Hischier had a goal and two assists for Team Orr. Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane Chiefs) chipped in with a goal and an assist. Mattheos, Michael Rasmussen (Tri-City Americans) and Sasha Chmelevski (Ottawa 67’s) also scored. Jacob Paquette (Kingston Frontenacs) assisted on a pair of goals. Alex D’Orio (Saint John Sea Dogs) got the start for Team Cherry, stopping 15 of 19 shots. Michael DiPietro (Windsor Spitfires) stopped 14 of 16 shots in the second half of the game.

Prior to the game a moment of silence was held to honour those killed and injured at a Quebec City mosque on Sunday.

Cancelling the game was considered but the CHL was comfortable with the game going ahead as planned after consultation with local authorities.
