The Soo Greyhounds made a deal with the Guelph Storm early Wednesday morning, to obtain the 13th overall selection in the 2005 CHL Import Draft.

The Hounds then used that pick to select left-handed forward DAVID KUCHEJDA. The Hounds used thier own pick, the 31st overall pick, to obtain LW JIRI TLUSTY.

The Hounds dealt their 4th round pick in 2007, as well as their 8th round pick in 2006 in exchange for Guelph’s 1st round selection in the CHL Import Draft.

In selecting Kuchejda, the Hounds obtain an 17-year old forward, who suited up the past two seasons with HC Ceske Budejovice of the Czech Extraliga U20 league. Kuchejda is a native of the Czech Republuc who stands five feet, ten inches tall and weighs in at 191 pounds.

Kuchejda was a member of the Czech Under 18 team this past year, scoring 3 goals and tallying 2 assists in seven games, making him the 3rd leading scorer on the Czech team.

Tlusty is a highly touted NHL Prospect from the Czech Republic. Jiri also competed in the Czech Extraliga U20 league. Tlusty played for the HC Kladno club, and was also selected to represent the Czech Republic at the world U 18 Hockey Championships.

Tlusty scored 3 goals in seven games at the event, as a 16 year old. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.
