The Soo Greyhounds put a positive end to what began as a disappointing road trip.

After dropping games in Windsor on Thursday and Sarnia on Friday, the Greyhounds rallied to end the trip with a 3-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers in Ontario Hockey League action on Sunday afternoon.

The victory moved the Greyhounds back into a tie with the Windsor Spitfires for eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Spitfires, who hold two games in hand, have lost two straight games since Thursday night's 6-0 win over the Hounds.

Overager Scott Dobben and goaltender Kevin Druce played a huge role in the Greyhounds' victory on Sunday.

Dobben scored the first two goals of the contest, to give him 26 on the season, and was named the game's first star. Druce was solid net and stopped 33 of 34 Plymouth shots for second star honours.

Greyhound rookie Jason Pitton closed the scoring with his eighth of the year while Dan Collins replied with the lone goal for Plymouth. Jeff Larsh and Jordan Smith added two assists for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds return home to begin a three-game home stand on Wednesday against the Sudbury Wolves at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens. The Belleville Bulls visit on Friday at 7:30 p.m. while Guelph Storm arrive on Sunday for a special 6 p.m. start.
