The Soo Greyhounds are back on the winning track after ending a three-game losing skid on Saturday night in Erie.

After building a 3-0 lead then closing the deal at the end, the Hounds skated to a 5-2 win over the Otters to even their season record at 4-4.

The Greyhounds are back to open a short two-game homestand on Friday night against the Owen Sound Attack beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

In Erie, David Kuchejda opened the scoring with a much needed power play goal before Ryan Kitchen added another for a 2-0 Greyhound lead after one period.

Jason Pitton put the Hounds ahead 3-0 before Erie was given some life when Sean O'Connor scored with just 25 seconds left in the second period.

Vince Scott pulled the Otters to within one with a goal early in the third period but the Hounds were able to add some insurance as Jacob Lalonde found the net less than a minute later and Andrew Desjardins scored a late empty net goal.

Kyle Gajewski had a solid game for the Greyhounds and kicked aside 34 of 36 shots in goal for the win and was named the game's first star. The Greyhounds fired 25 shots at Erie.

Greyhound defenseman Tyler Cuthbert did not record a point on the night but topped all players with a +3 plus/minus rating.
