The Soo Greyhounds found their offense late in the third period but it wasn't enough to overcome an early deficit on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action in Kingston.

After the Kingston Frontenacs built a 4-0 lead, the Hounds rebounded to score three goals in the game's final 6:21, including two in the final 15 seconds of regulation time, but the home side held on for a 4-3 win.

The loss was the Greyhounds eighth in the past nine games. The team will close their eastern road swing on Sunday against the Ottawa 67's at 2 p.m.

Todd Griffith, Radek Smolenek, Bobby Hughes and Chris Stewart scored to give the Frontenacs, who led 3-0 after one period and scored three power play goals, a 4-0 advantage by the 7:39 mark of the third period.

Jason Pitton finally found the net behind Frontenacs goaltender Danny Taylor for the Greyhounds with 6:21 remaining in the third period.

With the Frontenacs in penalty trouble and Greyhound goaltender Matt Hache on the bench for an extra attacker in the game's final seconds, Ryan Kitchen and Cody Thornton scored for the Hounds with 15 and seven seconds left, respectively, to close the gap to a single goal.

Kyle Gajewski started in goal for the Greyhounds, who outshot Kingston 37-26, but was pulled in favour of Hache following the first intermission.

The Greyhounds had an opportunity to score late in the first period as Scott Restoule was given a penalty shot that the newest Hound couldn't convert.

Next home action for the Greyhounds is scheduled for Wednesday as the Sarnia Sting will visit Memorial Gardens for a 7 p.m. start.
