The Soo Greyhounds limped home on Sunday night after gaining only one of a possible six points on a three-game road trip.

The Hounds capped the swing on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to the Sarnia Sting.

Just a week following a rugged affair between the two teams at Memorial Gardens, which saw three players receive a suspension, extracurricular activities following the whistle were kept to a minimum.

Following last Sunday's game, the Hounds' Reg Thomas was suspended for 15 games for careless use of the stick after colliding with Sting defenseman Matt Pelech, who broke his jaw.

As a result of the fighting incidents with Thomas following the Pelech incident, Sting forward Jordan Grant was handed an eight game suspension and Michael Haley was slapped with a five game sentence for what the league describes as "bullying tactics".

On Sunday, the Sting, who dressed one player less than the maximum of 20, scored a goal in each period to pace themselves to the win as Mathis Olimb, Kody Musselman and Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn provided the scoring.

Jordan Smith on the power play and Tyler Kennedy, who scored a goal for the third straight game, scored for the Greyhounds. Kennedy also added an assist.

Sarnia's Ryan Munce stopped 29 of 31 shots in goal for the win in goal while the Hounds' Jakub Cech stopped 28 of 31 shots in the loss.

The loss drops the Hounds record to 20-23-6-1, three points behind the Plymouth Whalers, who tied the Saginaw Spirit 4-4 on Sunday and hold a game in hand on the Hounds, and two points ahead of the Windsor Spitfires.

The Hounds opened the road trip on Thursday with a 4-4 tie with the Spitfires before dropping a 4-2 decision to the Spirit on Saturday.

Next home action for the Greyhounds is Friday when the Belleville Bulls visit the Gardens for a 7:30 p.m. start.
