The Soo Greyhounds are off to a good start for the second half of the season.

A two-goal performance from defenceman Andrew Campbell led the Greyhounds to a 4-1 victory over the Sudbury Wolves Friday night in the Nickel City. Campbell also set up a goal in the victory.

After a slow first period that saw the Greyhounds outshoot the Wolves 14-2, James Livingston opened the scoring 1:33 into the second period after cutting out from the corner in the Wolves zone and slid a chance past Wolves goaltender Alain Valliquette.

Campbell increased the lead a short time later when he took a feed from Simon Fischhaber and beat Valliquette. Just past the midway point of the period Campbell came out of the penalty box and took a feed from Michael Quesnele, and fed Brandon MacLean while on a 2-on-0. MacLean redirected the pass for a 3-0 Greyhounds lead. Kyle Gajewski kept the score that way when he stopped Kevin Baker of the Wolves on a penalty shot late in the period.

The two teams traded third period goals as Campbell scored for the Greyhounds and Gerome Giudice scored late for the Wolves to cap the final.

Gajewski stopped 31 shots in the victory. Valliquette stopped 29 shots before being pulled just under five minutes into the third period. Sebastian Dahm stopped all 13 shots he faced in the period.

The victory improved the Greyhounds record to 24-10-1-1, good for 50 points and second in the West Division, one point behind the Windsor Spitfires. The Spitfires defeated the London Knights 6-2 on Friday night.

Next action for the Greyhounds is Saturday night at the Steelback Centre against the Windsor Spitfires. Game time is 7:30.
