The Soo Greyhounds and Plymouth Whalers locked horns on Friday afternoon and gave a hint of what was in store for the rest of the season.

In close game dominated by Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski and Plymouth counterpart Jeremy Smith, a Whaler bounce proved to be the difference in a 1-0 Plymouth win.

Joe Gaynor scored the game's lone goal at 2:56 of the second period.

Gajewski stopped 35 of 36 shots while Smith stopped all 26 Greyhound shots.
