Greyhounds blanked by Whalers

The Soo Greyhounds peppered the Plymouth Whalers net with shots but couldn't manage to bury a goal. The Whalers scored twice in the first period and added four more in the second for a 6-0 win over the Hounds on Saturday night in Plymouth.

The Soo Greyhounds peppered the Plymouth Whalers net with shots but couldn't manage to bury a goal.

The Whalers scored twice in the first period and added four more in the second for a 6-0 win over the Hounds on Saturday night in Plymouth.

In the end, the Greyhounds fired 42 shots on Whalers goaltender Michal Neuvirth with no success.

Kyle Gajewski started in goal for the Hounds but was pulled in favour of Matt Hache after the fourth Plymouth goal midway through the second period. The pair faced 44 shots from Plymouth.

Sean O'Connor scored two goals for the Whalers with singles going to Jared Boll, Ryan McGinnis, James Neal and Joe McCann. Chris Terry had three assists.

With the loss, the Greyhounds sit at 1-1 on the road trip with another game scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. in London against the Knights.
