Gavin Cond and Ryan Maunu will become the first two players to be inducted into the Sault Sabercats Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

The players will be presented with a plaque and a team jersey with their name and number during the Sabercats' Ontario Varsity Football League game against the Guelph Bears at Rocky DiPietro Field beginning at 1 p.m.

Joey Calzone's will house the Sabercats Hall of Fame as the local eatery will purchase a plaque to be mounted in the restaurant commemorating each year's inductees.

Cond (pictured) is a former Sir James Dunn Eagle and now a standout linebacker at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. Cond played only one season for the Sabercats but made a lifelong stamp on the team with his play and leadership.

In 2003, Cond made 53.5 tackles and remains fifth best all-time in the club's five-year history.

Maunu, a former star quarterback and hockey player at White Pines, was an elite centre the past two seasons for the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League's Sault Thunderbirds. His leadership led to his status as captain of the Sabercats, Wolverines and Thunderbirds.

Equally as talented on the football field, Maunu led the Sabercats offense for two seasons and currently sits as the team's all-time passing leader with 2,395 yards and 19 touchdowns. His best season came in 2004 with 1,408 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.
