For Petes sake! Hounds fall in overtime

The Soo Greyhounds squandered another first star performance by Kyle Gajewski as the Peterborough Petes scored a 2-1 overtime victory on Thursday night. Trevor Hendrikx scored 1:49 into overtime to settle the outcome.

The Soo Greyhounds squandered another first star performance by Kyle Gajewski as the Peterborough Petes scored a 2-1 overtime victory on Thursday night.

David Kuchejda spotted the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead in the second period with a power play goal before Jamie Tardif tied the game for the Petes with a power play marker later in the frame.

Gajewski was peppered in the Greyhounds goal with 49 shots while the Hounds, who were outshot 4-1 in overtime, managed 29 shots on winner David Shantz.

The game was the first on a three-game road trip that will see the Hounds visit Kingston on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Ottawa on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Despite the loss, the Greyhounds escape with a point and extend their record to 6-10-1 on the season.

The game also featured the debut of Trevor Solomon and Scott Restoule in a Greyhound uniform after being acquired by the team on Monday from the Sarnia Sting. For earlier coverage of the trade, click here.
