The Sir James Dunn Eagles find themselves sitting pretty early in the High School Football League season after the team reeled off their second straight victory on Thursday night.

After a one point victory over Bawating to open the senior division campaign last week, the Eagles moved to 2-0 with a 15-6 win over the Korah Colts at Rocky DiPietro Field. Korah fell to 0-2.

Both teams pounded each other with their rushing attacks in a ball control game that saw several time consuming drives.

The Eagles opened the game with a 50 yard 7:40 drive that was stopped by the Colts defense on a fourth down gamble. Korah responded with a 10:08 drive that chewed up 44 yards before finally being forced to punt.

Navarre Cellini open the scoring for SJD with 55.9 seconds remaining in the first half on a 51 yard pass and run play from quarterback Frank Weise. A.J. Rivard added some insurance with a one yard scoring run. Nick Wegener booted two converts while Weise added a 51 yard punt single.

Korah continued to battle in the final quarter but a key drive with 6:22 remaining stalled as the Colts turned the ball over on downs. Ben Ginter scored Korah's touchdown on an eight yard pass play from quarterback Christian Johnson with 17 seconds to play.

Peter McGonegal led all rushers with 117 yards on 21 carries for the Eagles while Ryan Bangma added 52 yards on nine carries. Weise completed three of 10 passes for 63 yards including two to Cellini for 57 yards.

Defensively, Lucas Walker stepped up with 11.5 tackles for the Eagles. Weise added six tackles while Cellini and Casselman added 5.5 each and J.J. Bergamin five.

Greg Nanne led a balanced Colts rushing attack with 42 yards on 17 carries while Clint Cudmore rushed for 30 yards, Mike Burmaster 26 and Kyle Leonard 25. Johnson and starting quarterback Kyle Diotte combined to complete eight of 10 passes for 54 yards. Ginter caught five passes for 41 yards.

Luke Critchley recorded seven tackles for the Colts and Riley King 6.5 while Jeff MacAllister made six tackles and recovered a fumble.

Action continues on Friday at Rocky DiPietro with this week's marquee matchup between the White Pines Wolverines and the St. Mary's Knights. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m.

On Saturday at 1 p.m., the Bawating Braves tackle the St. Basil Saints.
