The Sir James Dunn Eagles used their size and strength to power their way to a High School Football League junior city championship.

On a soggy Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field, the Eagles took over a tight game in the second half to score a 19-0 victory over the St. Basil Saints.

The Eagles championship win put an end to the junior football season as Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) playdowns are not held at the junior division level.

Bryan Babic, who was a standout on both offense and defense for the Eagles, scored the only touchdown of the first half on a one yard run 4:06 into the game.

In the second half, Eagles running back Jarvis Milne led the offense to two more major scores. Babic capped a drive with a one yard run early in the fourth quarter while Milne punched in another from five yards out. Aaron Robinson added a convert.

After 51 rushing yards in the first half, Milne scampered for 163 more yards in the second half to finish with 214 on 31 carries. Babic ran for 67 yards on 18 carries.

Defensively, Babic led the team with seven tackles while Robert Ramsay added six, Joey Nichols four and Nick Pyke 3.5. Henry Horsford recovered a fumble.

For the Saints, who were held to under 100 yards of offense, Greg Battagin led with 38 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Jared Theriault paced the defense with 8.5 tackles while Daniel Fantin recorded seven, Nick Barbon five plus a sack, Jordan Lake five, Fraser Speakman 4.5, James Reville four, Cedric Sears four and Brendon Coccimiglio 2.5 plus a sack. Speakman also hauled in an interception and blocked an extra point.
