Dutchak wins provincial synchro gold

The Sault Y Synchro team has just returned from competing in Provincial Tier championships, held in London Ontario May 25-29.

The Sault Y Synchro team has just returned from competing in Provincial Tier championships, held in London Ontario May 25-29. The four day event hosted over 25 clubs throughout the province of Ontario as well as demonstrations from clubs in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Over 700 swimmers competed in figures, duet, solo, team, combo, master and athletes with disabilites divisions. Solo performer Meagan Dutchak won the gold medal in figure competition, and placed 10th overall in Tier 6 division The Sault Tier 2 team also captured 10th place, with Sarah Gaines finishing 13th in the figure portion. Other team members include Danica Desjardins, Katrina Lynch, Taylor McAllister, Katelyn McPhee, Ila Porter, Samantha Servant, Taylor Thorkilson & Emily Wright Duet swimmers Brittany MacWilliam & Dominique Valiquette finished 12th overall competing in Tier 4. The swimmers are coached by Diana Spear, Karen Mortimore & Kelly Powshik. There will be a display held at the YMCA pool, on Tuesday June 6th at 6 pm for viewers to come and see performances by the competetitive and recreational swimmers at Sault Ste. Marie's only synchro club.
