Crimson Ridge set to host NGA championships

Field Set for 2005 NGA Championship at Crimson Ridge

Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (August 3, 2005) – Crimson Ridge Golf Club is primed and ready to host it’s second major amateur event of the 2005 season as the Northern Golf Association Championship gets underway on Saturday, August 6th.

Although a smaller field than previous years, the 2005 NGA Championship field promises to be one of the strongest in recent years. The 2005 edition will showcase a handful of past champions and top players from the Northern Ontario golf ranks.

Key players include five-time Champion (2004, 2003, 1997, 1994 & 1991) and two-time runner up Bruce Helbig of Hailebury, three-time Runner-up and Crimson Ridge Senior Club Champion Don Missere, 2002 Runner – up and 2005 Sault Country Club Champion Frank Kucher, Jr., 1996 Champion Jed Allick of Kirkland Lake, 1993 Runner – up Gord McGuinty of North Bay and 2005 Crimson Ridge Club Champion Greg McLellan

The tournament will provide a strong local contingent with thirty four players from Sault Ste. Marie registered to play. The local flavor includes a very strong showing from the Sault Ste. Marie Country Club with twenty-five players and Crimson Ridge with nine players playing at their home course.

The tournament gets under way Friday, August 5th with practice rounds all day and will continue with the opening round on Saturday, August 6th and conclude with the final round on Sunday, August 7th. First round tee-times will be available Thursday evening from the pro shop at Crimson Ridge or online at www.golfcrimsonridge.com while the final round tee times will be decided after the first round scores. The leaders will tee off around 11:00 am Sunday morning.

Spectators are encouraged and welcome to come out to Crimson Ridge on Saturday & Sunday to watch. Crimson Ridge would ask that all spectators wear proper golf attire.
