Championship night 'under the lights' happening this Friday

KINROSS, MI - Drivers will be battling for final position in the standings this Friday night, Sept. 2 - as the Kinross Speedpark will hold it’s Championship Night, in conjunction with the Chippewa County Fair.

Time trials are set for 6 p.m. with racing action to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Richmond Gear Weekend Warriors Full Show will include the Precision Forestry Modifieds, ABC Stock Cars and Four Cylinders all taking to the 1/4 mile asphalt oval.

This will be the first, and only time this season, the “Cars and Stars” of Kinross will battle “under the lights” with a night time event.

With a feature win in his last event, Tim Aho (#27, Sault Ste. Marie MI) has extended his lead atop the Precision Forestry Modified Division to 7 points over Buddy Gray IV (#24JR, Petoskey MI).

Goulais River competitor, Jay Palumbo (#90), BJ Marcoux (#43M, Havilland ON) and Kyle Jarrett (#27, Sault Ste. Marie ON) round out the top five positions.

Keenan Spurway (#0, Sault Ste. Marie ON) enters the week on the heels of back-to-back ABC Stock Car A-Division feature wins, along with a 16-point lead in the division.

Tony Rankin (#68, Kinross MI) and Jason Praysner (#5, Sault Ste. Marie ON) cap off the top podium positions.

The ABC Stock Car B-Division continues to grow and show parity as each and every week has seen a different feature winner, including 1st-career feature wins by Chris Toms (#44, Brimley MI) and Buddy Palahnuk (#26, Goualis ON) in recent weeks.

As for the standings, veteran Speedpark competitor Larry Young Sr. (#25, Sault Ste. Marie MI) leads the pack with a twelve point advantage over Palahnuk and twenty-six point advantage ahead of John Lowery II (#2, Elmira MI) in third position.

Jon Diodati’s (#52, Sault Ste. Marie ON) 119 points provides him solid cushion in the Four Cylinder Division lead over Brent Fewchuk (#3, Sault Ste. Marie ON) and Dean Eggart (#88, Kinross MI)

Admission for this event is in accordance and governed by the Chippewa County Fair and is priced at $12 U.S. General Admission, $8 for Children 4-8 while Kids Under 4 are free.
(Canadian exchange will be dependant on current bank rates).

To get to the Speedpark take Exit 378 off I-75 and follow the signs to the Chippewa County Fairgrounds.
