The Aurora Tigers are champions of the Dudley Hewitt Cup.
On Saturday night in Iroquois Falls, the OPJHL's Tigers hammered the Schreiber Diesels of the SIJHL 10-0 in the championship game.
Aurora now advances to the Royal Bank Cup Junior A National Championship hosted in Prince George, British Columbia from May 5-13.
The Dudley Hewitt Cup is named after George Dudley and William Hewitt, two pioneers of amateur hockey in Ontario.
The award is given to the winner of a round robin and playoff between a host team and the winners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL) and Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL).
As hosts, the Abitibi Eskimos of the NOJHL fared well by finishing third and advancing to the semi-final game where they fell 6-5 in double overtime to the Diesels.
The NOJHL champion Soo Indians struggled offensively during the week finishing in a three-way tie for second with Schreiber and Abitibi at 1-2 before being knocked out of the playoffs on a mathematical tiebreaker.
The Indians lone win came from a 2-1 decision over the Diesels while Abitibi defeated the Indians 4-2 in the round robin.
Aurora dominated the tournament throughout, scoring 27 goals and giving up only four in four games.
