Cerasuolo tumbles to gold in North Bay

The Sault Ste Marie Gymnastic Club's power tumbling team returned from North Bay this weekend with a good showing at the 1st Ontario Cup Power Tumbling Competition.

The Sault Ste Marie Gymnastic Club's power tumbling team returned from North Bay this weekend with a good showing at the 1st Ontario Cup Power Tumbling Competition.

Jaden Cerasuolo, who competed in the Provincial 1 Junior Girls category, has only been in competitive power tumbling for about a year. However, this does not show in her tumbling, especially when she competes.

Her beautiful lines and clean form helped Jaden propel to the top of the podium on each of her 2 tumbling passes as well in the all around final results. With this outstanding result, this proves that Jaden Cerasuolo is the one to beat throughout the Province in the Provincial 1 Junior Girls category.

Both Reilly Turbide and Kaylee Raynor competed in the Provincial 2 Junior Girls category. Reilly had a strong day, as she moved up a category from last year. She tumbled to a 10th place finish with a strong 8th place showing on her 2nd tumbling pass. Kaylee on the other hand is a first year power tumbler and has only been in the program for approximately a month. Her hard work ethic in the gym helped Kaylee tumble to a 13th place showing, which is an outstanding result considering her short time in the program.

Bradley Nakamura, who competed in the Provincial 3 Boys category, tumbled his way to a bronze medal performance. Bradley had some minor problems in his first tumbling pass, but had a strong second pass which vaulted him into a 3rd place finish.

Chantal Cinq-Mars and Ashleigh Harrison both competed in the Provincial 3 Junior Girls category. Chantal lead the way with a strong and very consistent performance. Her consistency helped Chantal climb to a 4th place finish after a strong 2nd pass. Ashleigh was not far behind teammate Chantal as she tumbled her way to a respectful 9th place finish.

Both Carmen Bruni and Maria Proulx competed in the Provincial 3 Senior Girls category. Carmen finished 8th overall as she was 9th in her 1st pass and 8th in her 2nd tumbling pass. Maria had a 12th place showing overall as she also scored a 12th place result in both her 1st and 2nd tumbling passes.

These tumblers will be joined by National level tumbers and teammates Shelby MacDonald and Jonathan Mitchell as they'll head to Burlington from Jan 20-21st for the 2nd Ontario Cup.
