Sure, Kevin Hodson played some NHL hockey in Detroit and Tampa Bay.

But around the Sault, we'll remember him forever and ever and ever as the guy who minded the net during Soo Greyhounds' legendary Memorial Cup victory during the 1992-93 season.

The following update on the former Hound was submitted to SooToday.com by Jessica Davidson at Environics Communications Inc.

************************* As a two-time NHL Stanley cup winner, Kevin Hodson is used to making big saves.

But since leaving the big show, he now focuses on helping others to save - their money that is.

"There are significant similarities in the two careers, most importantly the ability to fulfill other people's needs. As an NHL player I acted as a role model for children, while as a financial advisor I make an impact on adult lives," says Kevin Hodson, former NHL goalie and current Edward Jones investment representative. "I knew when I moved on from hockey that this is what I would be doing."

In fact, Kevin knew at a young age that he would go into finance.

He took care of his own investments, following the lead of his parents who are both in the business.

While playing in the NHL and raising his children with his wife Maud, Kevin completed a four-year honours degree in business.

Throughout both careers, Kevin has worked hard to achieve his goals.

While in the NHL he not only goaltended for a two-time Stanley cup winning team (the Detroit Red Wings), raised a family and earned a degree, he also underwent two heart surgeries to correct Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome.

Now, at Edward Jones, he feels that his work ethic has been rewarded and his personal need for social contact is fulfilled.

"Edward Jones is a company that provides excellent training, help and support and offers an excellent opportunity to meet great people through contact with clients and co-workers."

Another plus for Kevin is that he is able to put his entrepreneurial spirit to work, while still benefitting from the security of working for a large multi-national corporation.

"The one-man office is a great approach. I am able to really build strong relationships with my clients while working in a comfortable environment that is truly a reflection of my personality. At the same time, I get the perks that come with working for a large company."

Sault Ste. Marie is familiar territory for Kevin.

Not only is the Soo his wife's hometown, but Kevin played for Soo Greyhounds for three years, backstopping the team to its first-ever Memorial Cup in the 92-93 season.

"I am very comfortable here. In this town and in this job, I am part of a very positive culture of hardworking professionals working towards a common goal. Edward Jones employees work hard because we care about our company, but more importantly, we care about our clients."
