CASS returns from solid showing in Tomahawk tourney

The Central Algoma Secondary School Huskies senior boys basketball team won their division in the Chippewaw Tomahawk Tournament in North Bay on the weekend by defeating St. Joseph/Scollard Hall 51-40 and Lockerby 62-42.

The Central Algoma Secondary School Huskies senior boys basketball team won their division in the Chippewaw Tomahawk Tournament in North Bay on the weekend by defeating St. Joseph/Scollard Hall 51-40 and Lockerby 62-42.

Top scorers in game one were Jay Ripplinger with 20 points and Cory Myers with 15. In the second game, Myers again scored 15 points while Rob Hurley added a game high 19.

In the semi-final, CASS lost to the powerful Timmins High Blues 67-19 with Rob Hurley scoring nine points. This eliminated the Huskies, however, the team had a solid effort against some stiff competition.

*** JUNIOR BOYS:

The CASS boys junior basketball team won a bronze medal at the Chippewa Tomahawk in North Bay.

CASS defeated Espanola 56-40 in the game for third place. Ethan Campbell with 18 points and Seth Whitley with 16 led the Huskies.

In the semi-final, CASS lost 57-50 to Northern (Sturgeon Falls) after leading 23-16 at the half.

In preliminary games, CASS defeated Renfrew 63-40 and O’Gorman (Timmins)49-26.

*** HUSKY INVITATIONAL:

CASS will be hosting the 30th annual Husky Invitational December 8 & 9 with Junior and Senior teams from W.C. Eaket, Sir James Dunn and Bawating.
