Central Algoma Secondary School travelled to Sturgeon Falls to participate in the Boys Single “A” NOSSA Basketball Championships over the weekend.

The CASS junior boys finished their championship season by defeating Northern S.S. of Sturgeon Falls 53-39 to capture the single “A” NOSSA Championship.

CASS lead 22-14 at the half. Justin Roberts lead all scorers with 18 points while Ethan Campbell had 16 for the Huskies. Seth Whitley and Alec Ross rounded out the scoring with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

In preliminary games, CASS dropped their opening game 42-39 to the host Northern Braves before rebounding to defeat Algonquin (North Bay) 49-34 and Horizon (Sudbury) 43-38.

The CASS senior boys lost in the NOSSA championship game 38-37 to Chelmsford in double overtime. The score was 32-32 at the end of regulation time. Jay Ripplinger and Corey Myers had 11 points each for the Huskies.

In preliminary games, CASS won their opener 56-42 over Franco Cite (Sturgeon Falls) before dropping their next game 34-32 to Chelmsford. The Huskies then defeated Algonquin 48-25 to advance to the championship game.
