CASS gains a sweep in Blind River

The Central Algoma Secondary School Huskies completed a three-game sweep of the W.C. Eaket Royals in Blind River on Tuesday in North Shore high school boys basketball league action.

The Central Algoma Secondary School Huskies completed a three-game sweep of the W.C. Eaket Royals in Blind River on Tuesday in North Shore high school boys basketball league action.

The senior Huskies used 27 points from Andrew Miron and 13 from David Hoover in a 68-30 win over the Royals to improve to 9-1 on the season.

In junior, the Huskies improved to 8-1 with a dramatic 41-39 win over Eaket. Rob Hurley, who added eight points in the game, hit a basket at the buzzer to secure the win. Jeremy Hodgson led the team with 12 points.

Andrew Kirby and Nathan Abelson scored nine points each to lead CASS to a convincing 42-13 win in midget play. The midget Huskies improved to 6-1 with the win.

The Huskies will travel to Elliot Lake next Thursday to complete the regular season.

Meanwhile, the midget Huskies are set to host a tournament this weekend at the Desbarats school. Teams from Chelmsford and Elliot Lake will attend along with Sault entries from Bawating, Sir James Dunn and Korah.
