CASS edges SJD for Husky Invitational

The Central Algoma Secondary School senior boys basketball team defeated Sir James Dunn 58-42 to win the Husky Invitational Basketball Tournament. The score was 22-21 for SJD at the half and 33-29 for CASS at the end of the third quarter.

The Central Algoma Secondary School senior boys basketball team defeated Sir James Dunn 58-42 to win the Husky Invitational Basketball Tournament.

The score was 22-21 for SJD at the half and 33-29 for CASS at the end of the third quarter. Ethan Campbell with 20 points, Corey Myers and Ryan Hurley with 12 each and Seth Whitley with 10 led the Huskies. Jamie Weldon led the Eagles with 18 points. Bawating defeated White Pines 57-50 to win the consolation championship. Corey Lecuyer had 21 points for the Braves while Tom Hicks and Mike Hope had 14 each for the Wolverines. In earlier games: Sir James Dunn 59 - White Pines 49, CASS 49 - White Pines 41, CASS 64 - Bawating 55, SJD 42- Bawating 32, White Pines 45 - SJD 31. Sir James Dunn defeated Bawating 52-37 to capture the junior championship.

The Dunn led 34-25 at the half. D.J. Carter with 17 points and Andrew Marshall with 10 led the Eagles while Jeff Humphries had 10 for the Braves. Korah defeated CASS 40-16 in the consolation final. Connor Maloney had 15 points for the Colts while Logan Jones had 8 for the Huskies. In earlier games: Bawating 40 - CASS 33, SJD 47 - Korah 26, Bawating 32 - Korah 31, SJD 51 - CASS 33, Korah 36 - SJD 31.
