CANADA 3 - SLOVKIA 0

LEKSAND, Sweden – Kris Russell scored twice to set a scoring record for Canada in a 3-0 win Slovakia on Sunday and the National Junior Team finished the preliminary round of the 2007 World Junior Hockey Championship with a 4-0 record.

Russell netted his third and fourth goals of the tournament and he now has scored the most goals by a Canadian defenceman in the history of the world juniors.

Steve Downie, with his third goals in four games, also scored and Canada won its 16th straight game at the world juniors. The last time Canada lost was in the gold medal final of the 2004 tournament in Helsinki.

Carey Price was in goal for Canada and he registered his second shutout of the tournament.

The Canadians have a bye to the semifinals, which start Wednesday. Canada's opponent will be decided by the outcome of the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
