KICK FOR A MILLION

************************* TSN names Wendy's Kick for a Million contender

Bill Szijarto to make $1 million field-goal attempt, October 20 on TSN

TSN and Wendy's second annual promotion draws staggering 1.5 million entries

TORONTO, October 6 - Will a 43-year-old soccer enthusiast from Port Robinson, Ontario, be able to follow in Brian Diesbourg's million-dollar footsteps?

TSN today announced that IT Support Specialist Bill Szijarto will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to kick a 50-yard field goal for $1 million on national television after being named this year's Wendy's Kick for a Million participant.

Szijarto's $1 million field-goal attempt will air October 20 during the Wendy's CFL on TSN: Friday Night Football halftime show featuring Saskatchewan at Toronto.

The announcement comes less than one year after Belle River, Ontario's Brian Diesbourg - in one of the most dramatic and inspiring sports moments of 2005 - made headlines across North America by successfully splitting the uprights at 50 yards to win $1 million.

Szijarto's (pronounced see-JAR-toe) name was randomly drawn from 1.5 million entries, seven times the number of entries over last year's inaugural contest and far surpassing any previous contest/promotional campaign on TSN.

Much like Diesbourg, Szijarto is an avid soccer enthusiast having played the game throughout high school.

A self-described linebacker at 6'1", 270 pounds, Szijarto continues to stay active by playing recreational soccer in two leagues. "I have some big shoes to fill, but with all the support from my family and friends, I feel good. Anxious, but good," said Szijarto.

While last year's contest stipulations did not allow Diesbourg to practice on his own time, Szijarto is permitted to practice leading up to the big event.

Since being notified, Szijarto has purchased an official Canadian Football League (CFL) football and is working to get his legs in game shape.

Szijarto will get the opportunity to attempt field goals at different distances to win any combination of prizes along with the $1 million one-time payout.

Building on the success of last year's contest, this year's prizes are substantially bigger and better:

- 20 Yards: $10,000 selloffvacations.com travel voucher - 30 Yards: $15,000 Best Buy shopping spree - 40 Yards: 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche - 50 Yards: $1,000,000 in a one-time payout

As part of the contest, Szijarto will also join Toronto Argonauts kicker Noel Prefontaine one day prior to the big event (October 19) for a one-hour training session to prepare for the following day's make-or-break field goal attempts.
