Busy weekend for local midget teams

Both local AAA midget teams were in action at home

It was a busy weekend for both AAA midget teams locally as the Great North Midget League regular season is in full swing.

The minor midget and major midget Soo Thunderbird teams played a game each against the Kapuskasing Flyers and Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.

In action on Saturday, the minor midget club dropped a 9-2 decision to the Flyers.

Jack Matier has a goal and an assist for the locals while Theo Smith also scored.

In the major midget game, the Sault dropped a 4-1 decision to Sudbury.

Kurtis Rogers has the lone goal for the home team.

On Sunday against Sudbury, the minor midget club dropped a 3-2 shootout decision.

Smith and Stephen Pszeniczny scored for the locals.

Also on Sunday, the major midget club dropped a 9-0 decision to Kapuskasing.

The major midget club returns to action on Sept. 28 on the road in New Liskeard against the Cubs while the minor midget club returns to GNML action on Sept. 22 in Sudbury against the minor midget Sudbury Wolves.
