SSMAC'S Lee Wins Iron Man Competition

Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club swimmer Brian Lee captured the Iron Man Award at the North Bay Invitational Swim Meet May 26/27, after sweeping his competition with gold medal races in the 800-metre freestyle, 1500-metre freestyle, 200-metre butterfly and the 400-metre individual medley. Lee also secured an additional Senior Club National qualifying time.

Other athletes to produce top-three results include, ten-year old Tyler Smith, who won gold in the 100-metre breaststroke, placed second in the 25-metre butterfly and third in the 100-metre freestyle and 100-metre individual medley events.

Steven Lee, age 11, found top spot in the 100-metre breaststroke and placed second in the 50-metre breaststroke. Sibling Erin Lee (age 9) won five bronze medals.

Samuel Wier, competing in the 'eight and under' age category, won two bronze and two silver medals. Teammate Aron Mohammadi, age 10, won a bronze in the 25-metre backstroke.

Other swimmers to place in the top-eight include: Matteo Reich, Rayne Fisher, Kailee Valois, Shane Rock and David Pihlaja.

The final regular season competition for SSMAC, will be the Long Course Championships in Sudbury, June 8-10th.
