Black Sox win three of four road games

The 15u Elks 341 Black Sox Baseball club hit the road this past weekend for a four-game set in North Bay.

The locals managed to capture three of the four games and improved their overall record to 6-6.

Results follow:

Game 1: North Bay Stingers - 6 Soo Black Sox - 4

The Sox got off to a quick start scoring early, however, North Bay was able to weather the storm and come back to grab the game one victory. Losing pitcher was Julian Ruscio on 2 2/3 strong innings. Carter Gallivan led the offense with a triple and two singles, and Malcolm McGugan added three singles and two RBIs.

Game 2: Soo Black Sox - 14  North Bay Stingers - 7

A huge seven-run third inning helped the Sox control the game and get the split on Saturday. The offense produced 11 total hits and the Sox also stole nine bases throughout the game with Colin Sirois swiping two of them. The winning pitcher was Matthew Gagne with five solid innings. Malcolm McGugan led the way with three singles and three RBIs while Adam Sylvestre added two singles to help the cause.

Game 3: Soo Black Sox - 11  North Bay Stingers - 4

Sunday morning, saw the Sox get off to a slow start before settling in. A big 4th inning saw the Soo plate six runs and take the lead for good. Winning pitcher, Carter Gallivan, tossed four innings with seven strikeouts to stifle the North Bay offensive attack. Avery Kalliomaa had two singles and two RBIs to lead the attack, while Brett Davey had a double and two RBI's and Julian Ruscio added a double.

Game 4: Soo Black Sox - 13  North Bay Stingers - 5

In the final game, the Locals broke the game open with seven runs in the 3rd inning to end the weekend strong. The Sox had 13 hits in the victory. The winning pitcher was Malcolm McGugan. He also added two singles offensively. Matthew Gagne added two singles and an RBI, while Landon Assiginack had a double and RBI Lucas Malcolm and Owen Allen both added a single and an RBI.

Next action for the Sox is Wednesday, June 13 at Sinclair Yards when they host the Soo Michigan 15u Sluggers.
