KICK FOR A MILLION

TORONTO, Oct. 20 - Forty-three-year-old Bill Szijarto, an IT support specialist from Port Robinson, Ont., successfully kicked a 20- and 30-yard field goal as part of TSN's second annual Wendy's Kick for a Million contest to win prizes totalling $25,000.

The event was televised live at halftime on TSN Friday night during the network's CFL broadcast featuring Saskatchewan @ Toronto. Szijarto attempted field goals ranging in distance from 20 to 50 yards, with lucrative prizes awarded for each successful kick.

For the 20-yard field goal, Szijarto wins a $10,000 selloffvacations.com travel voucher and for his 30-yarder, he picks up a $15,000 Best Buy shopping spree.

Had Szijarto successfully kicked the 50-yarder, he would have brought home a windfall $1 million one-time payout. Szijarto is an avid soccer enthusiast having played the game throughout high school.

A self-described linebacker at 6'1", 270 lbs., Szijarto continues to stay active by playing recreational soccer in two leagues. Friday night's event closes out the second installment of TSN's annual Wendy's Kick for a Million contest.

This year's contest garnered a staggering 1.5 million entries, seven times the number of entries over 2005 and far surpassing any previous contest/promotional campaign on TSN. Last year's contest saw 25-year-old Brian Diesbourg, a mechanical engineer from Belle River, Ont., put his best foot forward - both figuratively and literally - to split the uprights at 50 yards and win the $1 million grand prize.

Diesbourg attended Friday night's game to support Szijarto.
