Bawating runs to second consecutive win

After struggling through the first two games of the High School Football League regular season, the Bawating Braves have now put themselves into playoff position with wins in their last two games.

After struggling through the first two games of the High School Football League regular season, the Bawating Braves have now put themselves into playoff position with wins in their last two games.

In senior division action on Thursday night at Rocky DiPietro Field, the Braves rushed for 335 yards and five touchdowns in a 36-7 win over the Korah Colts.

At 2-2, the Braves have secured at least a tiebreaker game while the Colts fell to 0-4 and were eliminated from playoff contention.

Dan Vaz led the Braves rushing attack with 200 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns on runs of 41 and 18 yards. Nathan Edwards added 59 yards rushing and a 19 yard touchdown run while Aaron Rooley carried for 54 yards and a five yard major score.

Quarterback Mike Storozuk ran in another touchdown from seven yards out while completing eight of 18 passes for 86 yards and running for a two point convert. Joe Storozuk caught three passes for 50 yards and Tyson Derasp caught three more for 24 yards.

Brad Beatty kicked three converts and a single.

For the Colts, Ben Ginter scored the team's lone touchdown on a seven yard run while Mike Burmaster led the offense with 105 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Ginter added 59 yards rushing on 17 attempts and quarterback Kyle Diotte completed three of 12 passes for 50 yards including two to Chad Turner for 27 yards.

In junior division action on Thursday afternoon, Korah scored a 7-0 win over Bawating. No scoring details were provided.
