***************************** BOTH ALGOMA U WOMEN'S & MEN'S TEAM DEFEAT REDEEMER

Algoma U's Thunderbird Women's Basketball team are now a perfect 4 & 0 after defeating the Redeemer University College Royals by a score of 67 to 31.

Top scorers for Algoma University College were Danielle D'Ettorre with a 22 points, Lara Stilin with 12 and Melissa Stumpo along with Kristen Conway had 10 points each.

The Algoma U Men's team found the winning formula on the weekend by defeating the Redeemer Royals Men's team with a score of 90 to 55.

Top scorer's for Algoma U were Arial Baptiste with 18 points, Jarrell Hogan with 17 and Patrick Murray had 11.

Both the Algoma U Women's & Men's basketball teams are in action this Monday, November 6th as they face Alpena College (Michigan) in exhibition matches. The women's game is at 3 pm and the men's game is at 6 pm.

The Algoma U Men's team returns to regular season play on Friday night at 8 pm when they play the Lambton College Lions. The Women's team have a weekend off before they resume play on the road against Redeemer and Niagara College on the weekend of November 17 & 18.

RAY BARSANTI & DAVE BOURGEAULT INDUCTED TO THE THUNDERBIRD WALL OF FAME

At half time of the Men's game on Saturday, Ray Barsanti and Dave Bourgeault were inducted to the Thunderbird Varsity Athletics Wall of Fame.

These were the inaugural inductions to the newly established Algoma U tribute.

Ray Barsanti was the first Men's Algoma U basketball coach in the OCAA for the years 2000 to 2004. Dave Bourgeault was the first Thunderbird women's basketball coach who served the position from 2000 to 2004.

ALGOMA U WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM ON A ROLL

Algoma U's Thunderbird Women's Basketball team is still undefeated after winning their third game of the OCAA regular season with an overtime win over the Sheridan College Bruins. The score was 58 to 53 in favour of Algoma U.

At the half the score was 28 to 23 in favour of Algoma. The score went back and forth until Algoma built up a lead of 9 points. But then the Sheridan Bruins went on a 13 point run to take the lead. The Thunderbird women clawed their way back to tie the game at 49 with Lara Stilin sinking to clutch free throws with seconds left. In the overtime Algoma outshot Sheridan 9 points to 4.

Top scorers for Algoma University College were Jessica King with a 23 points, Lara Stilin with 20 and Danielle D'Ettorre with 8. Top scorer for Sheridan was Jeralyn Espiritu with 18 points in which 12 of these were 3 pointers.
