Algoma U Athletic Banquet Award Winners 2006/07

On April 5, 2007 the Sixth Annual Algoma University Athletics Banquet was held at Algoma University College.

Danille D'Ettorre, a first year transfer student at Algoma was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She was starting centre for the Thunderbird women's basketball team and their scoring leader.

Danielle became the first OCAA Athlete to win the CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year award. Ending the regular season with a total of 312 points and an average of 26 PPG leading the Thunderbirds to the West Region title and eventually a silver medal at the provincial Championship in Ottawa. She also set a new OCAA scoring record with a 26 points per game.

The Male Student-Athlete of the Year was Patrick Murray a first year Thunderbird basketball forward who was the team's 3rd top point scorer with 11.07 points per game. He was named Player of the Game for the OCAA annual All-Star game.

Another highlight of the evening was that the Northern Ontario Brier Team skipped by Al Harnden was in attendance. Al Harnden was invited as guest speaker for this year's banquet. Here are the rest of the award winners from the banquet:
