ABA playoffs in full gear

The playoff season for the Algoma Basketball Association is in full gear as three playoff games were played on Wednesday night at the Bawating gym. In game one, Sal-Dan squeaked out a 34-32 victory over Joey Calzones.

The playoff season for the Algoma Basketball Association is in full gear as three playoff games were played on Wednesday night at the Bawating gym.

In game one, Sal-Dan squeaked out a 34-32 victory over Joey Calzones. Katie Hamilton was the offensive catalyst for Sal-Dan as she drained three three-pointers and finished the game with 13 points. Marlene Pavoni also chipped in with nine points. Vanessa Chaimbrone scored eight points for Joey Calzone’s. Jen Thibeault, Katie Babcock, and Laura Clement each added six points in the loss.

In game two, Digital Recruits held a 15-9 lead at halftime and cruised to a 39-20 victory over The Braves. Digital Recruits saw their scoring spread around with Jessica King leading the way with nine points. Shauna Conway added eight points while, Sarah Medaglia, Lisa Medaglia, and Roseann Gaudio each added four points in the victory. Kira Favaro led the way for The Braves with six points.

In game three, Sal-Dan topped off a perfect night with a 38-33 victory over Primo Pizza. Hamilton again led Sal-Dan’s scoring attack with 13 points while Julia Colizza chipped in with 11. Jen Broad picked up 13 points in a losing effort while Dano Marchand added eight points and Carly Zuke added seven in the loss.

By way of their victories on Wednesday, Digital Recruits and Sal-Dan will suit up for the ABA title. Date and time for the championship game has yet to be determined.
