SooToday.com received the following e-mail today from Patti Wierzbicki of J&J Promotions, letting us in on the lates news from Runway Park:

************************ Hi Dave,

I just thought I would give you an update on what is happening this winter at Runway Park.

I have attached a pic that I took today of the water truck working out there.

Winter may have had a very slow start this year, causing coordinators of winter events to wonder if Mother Nature was playing a cruel joke on them.

Well the joke is over and ice-making conditions are great.

The crews at Runway Park have been working around the clock to once again make the world's fastest ice.

Winter Mania 2007 is shaping up very well.

The ISR World Series of Ice Drags returns to Runway Park for the third straight year from Friday, February 9 to Sunday, February 11.

Some of the fastest snowmachines in the world will be here and world records have been made in previous years.

There will be three great days of racing action.

Friday Night

Big Gun Shootouts at 6 p.m. Fireworks at 8:15 p.m. General admission is $5, with children 12 and under free

Saturday & Sunday

Racing action begins at 11 a.m. General admission is $10, with children 12 and under free

New to Runway Park this year is the Wheels on Ice Show this February 17, 2007 from noon to 4 p.m.

This event will feature our local racers and also some out of town guests from 4 different motorsport divisions.

There will be ATVs, motocross bikes, karts and stock 4 race cars.

Typically these motorsports would be run in the summer months on dirt or asphalt, but these guys don't like to put their toys away in the winter.

They are studding up their tires to compete on the 1/3 mile ice track.

It is sure to be a very exciting event.

If the weather and the ice hold out there will be 3 more similar events to follow.

Wheels on Ice was created by popular demand and will become an annual event that is sure to grow in popularity and expand in size each year.

There will also be a Vintage Sled Show and Shine with a parade of retros at intermission.

For more information about Winter Mania 2007, you can check out RunwayPark.com or call 779-3031, extension 4.

Thank-you, Patti Wierzbicki J&J Promotions
