DeGray joins Attack as new GM

(Owen Sound, ON)- The Owen Sound Attack are thrilled to announce the hiring of Dale DeGray as their new General Manager. The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 04 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound with Dale’s wife Dorothy and son Mitchell in attendance.

DeGray played three seasons for his hometown Oshawa Generals, where his blue collar work ethic allowed him to be drafted 162nd overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1981 NHL entry draft. DeGray went on to play 153 NHL games, scoring 18 goals and tallying 47 assists.

In total, the 43-year-old DeGray spent 14 years playing professional hockey and then two as coach/GM with the United Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs. He spent the last five years as the chief Ontario scout for the NHL's Florida Panthers.

"In order for me to leave the Florida Panthers, I wanted to have great people to work with and for it to be a great organization and surprisingly for me, it came together that quick," said DeGray, who is married with a young son.

DeGray replaces Mike Futa, who left in May to become the co-director of amateur scouting for the NHL's L.A. Kings.

Both Johnson and DeGray praised Futa for helping make Owen Sound a first-class organization.

"I will follow in the footprint that Mike Futa has left for this organization," said DeGray.

The Owen Sound Attack will open up their season on Friday, September 21st when they visit the 2008 Memorial Cup Host, the Kitchener Rangers.
