Algoma U Varsity Basketball Home Openers This Weekend

There will be plenty of high-level basketball action at the George Leach Centre this weekend as the Algoma University College Thunderbirds take to the court for their OCCA regular season home openers.

On Friday at 8:00 pm, the women’s team will take on Sheridan. After securing two road victories last weekend the women’s team has been ranked third in the province by the OCAA. Fifth ranked Sheridan will be gunning for a victory against the high flying Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds return to the court on Saturday as part of a double-header versus Redeemer University College. The women play at noon while the men’s home opener takes place at 2:00 pm. The men’s squad will be eager for a victory having lost two close road games last weekend against Mohawk and high ranking Fanshawe.

All season long fans can participate in the Spalding Shoot For Cash contest where selected contestants can win a chance to “shoot for cash”!
