With their 1st Round Selection (5th overall) of the 2006 OHL Priority Selection, the Soo Greyhounds selected James Livingston from the York Simcoe Express Major Midgets of the OMHA.

The 6'1", 185-pound right winger from Newmarket, averaged over a point per game after playing in 51 contests this past season posting 25 goals and 32 assists, good for 57 points.

Livingston (pictured) was slated to play Jr. A tier 2 for the Newmarket Hurricanes this past season, however, due to Hockey Canada's new prospect development model, he was forced to stay for his second year of Major Midget after playing as a 14 year-old.

"Livingston has a pro body frame, and a pretty effective skating stride that eats up ice when he is in full flight. Has the ability to shoot in full stride when driving off the wing, which he performs effectively. Livingston is very good playing along the walls. He has the ability to control the half boards in his own end; he protects the puck and always seems to get it out of his zone," states OHL Central Scouting.
