Eight of the 12 teams that remain alive in the Ontario Varsity Football League will hit the field on Saturday for wildcard weekend.

The Sault Sabercats were eliminated from playoff contention on the final week of the regular season last Saturday with a 24-21 loss to the Toronto Thunder at Rocky DiPietro Field.

In the Adam's Conference, which the Sabercats are members of, the Niagara Spears and Essex Ravens have received first round byes for their respective division championships.

In the wildcard, the Guelph Bears will host the Brampton Bulldogs while the London Falcons, coached by Sault native Mike Esposito, visits the Brantford Bisons.

In the Wettges Conference, the Huronia Stallions and Etobicoke Eagles have received byes while the Thunder host the Metro Toronto Wildcats and the Ottawa Myers Riders travel to Mississauga to face the Warriors in the wildcards.

Teams receiving byes will host the conference semi-finals on Saturday, August 5.

The OVFL championship game is scheduled for August 19.
