Zombies reanimate downtown (40 photos)

A colourful group gathered downtown this evening that included cheerleaders, waitresses, clowns, roller girls, brides, prom queens, bunnies and even two Little Red Riding Hoods.

But none of them were cute.

In fact, they were the things nightmares are made of.

Approximately 200 undead characters assembled at the Grand Theatre for the annual Soo Zombie Walk presented by the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District.

The event included zombie portraits by local photographer Mark Primavera, zombie face-painting, and a meet-and-greet with Sudbury's zombie writer/ artist Rob Sacchetto.

Following the walk - which took the reanimated horde through the downtown area - a zombie short-film festival screened at the Grand Theatre.

In addition to raising funds for the Arts Council, Soo Zombie Walk organizers also collected non-perishable food donations for the Algoma University student food bank.

There were no brains included in the donation bins.

We checked.

The zombies must have gotten them all.
