LOU AND SANDRA TURCO

******************** Lou Turco and Sandra Turco make bid for re-election

On Wednesday, June 7, 2006, Lou and Sandra Turco filed their nomination papers at the City Clerk's office for the upcoming municipal election to be held Monday, November 13 in Sault Ste. Marie.

Lou, a local radio broadcaster/account executive and Ward 4 councillor for Sault Ste. Marie, will be seeking his third term on City Council.

Sandra, a civilian employee of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, will be seeking her third term as a trustee for the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board.

Lou states "I have enjoyed my two terms on City Council in Ward 4. My pledge to my constituents in the last two terms was to respect the views and input of the taxpayers. I will continue to be their voice at City Hall. As the representative of the Ward 4 taxpayers, I have made my decisions by consulting with and listening to the taxpayer. I stated during re-election in 2003 that the learning curve was over. Today, we are moving forward to the next level and are being more proactive as a City Council. All you have to do is look around. The best is yet to come."

Lou serves as council representative on many local boards and provincial boards including being a director on the Northern Ontario School Of Medicine, director on the Large Urban Caucus of AMO (Association of Municipalities of Ontario), Director on FONOM (Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities), director on the Not For Profit Board for the FJ Davey Home, member for Sault Ste. Marie's Accessibility Advisory Committee, a board member of DSSAB (Sault Ste Marie District Social Services Administration Board), Arena Study Review Committee, Celebrating International Friendship Committee, MNR Bearwise Committee and the Historic Sites Board, to name a few. He is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Sandra states: "I have enjoyed my two terms as a trustee with the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board and look forward to making the best decisions for our greatest asset, our children."

Sandra has served on many volunteer committees in the past 26 years.

She often works alongside husband Lou.

It was through her volunteer work at the Canadian Cancer Society that she met husband Lou twenty-two years ago.
